The Audrey Collection – a must see exhibition!

If you’re in Chelsea this month (or even if you’re not!) you MUST go and see the exhibition showing at Proud Chelsea, The Audrey Collection by Bob Willoughby. The collection of photographs, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Breakfast at Tiffany’s, captures all kinds of moments from Hepburn’s life – from stunning images from her movies to frank, everyday situations. She is such a style icon, it would be criminal to miss it!

Isn’t she beautiful!

Pleats Please! Trend: Summer 2011

Following on from the ballet trend in February, I’m bringing you one of my favourite trends this season; the pleat. This trend works in both stiff and flowing fabrics, and below are my favourite designers supporting this must have. This is bound to continue into the winter too (either in the evening with chunky heels or wooly tights and flats for the day). This trend is currently all over the stores, my favourite three are at the bottom!

Get your hands on this trend, my favourite pleated pieces:

Oh, Alexander!

Oh wow, doesn’t this exhibition look fabulous? The recently opened Alexander McQueen exhibition ‘Savage Beauty’ is on at the Metropolitan Museum, NYC till the end of July. Some of the spaces were inspired by McQueen’s first atelier in Hoxton, (it actually reminds me of All Saints), others have a futuristic vibe. Just like McQueen – always contrasting opposites. The clothes surround catwalk videos, eccentric hats, phenomenal shoes.. a complete feast for the eyes.

I am completely jealous it’s not showing here in London. The website is great though, especially as it shows an 8 minute video of the whole exhibition. I hope this post gives you a great feel for what the UK is missing!

“I want to be honest about the world that we live in, and sometimes my political persuasions come through in my work. Fashion can be really racist, looking at the clothes of other cultures as costumes. . . . That’s mundane and it’s old hat. Let’s break down some barriers.” – McQueen.

“I’m a romantic schizophrenic” – McQueen.

Loving Lucy In Disguise

I am LOVING Lucy In Disguise! Good job Lily and Sarah. I wanted to share their videos with you, they make dressing up look great!

Tim Walker Photography

Dreams, magic, fantasy. It’s what Tim Walker’s photography is made of. I love it when Vogue is filled with his shoots. How much these magical shoots must cost? I can hardly imagine! His book ‘pictures’ looks fab and has great reviews! It’s definitely on my book wishlist and is under £40 at the mo on amazon..

Enjoy! Let’s hope there’s an exhibition of his coming our way soon…

Hillsong Colour Conference 2011

I had an amazing weekend at the Hillsong Colour Conference. I absolutely loved everything about it; the speakers, the music, the heart behind the conference and I especially loved all the imagery used to promote it. I wanted to share it with you!

Bobbie Houston (the founder of Hillsong Church and Colour) says that Colour is.. ‘a gathering that brings women into an environment that actually believes in them. It is about believing in the potential of women. I think when you capture and mobilise the feminine heart – there is no end of amazing endeavor that women can accomplish and be involved in.’

Here are images from the beautiful brochure!

One Love – is the love of God. Unashamedly this is about the love of God reaching into humanity bringing solution.

One Heart – is one heart beating together, in sync. A heart to roll up our sleeves, to not just be aware of some of the problems on the earth, but also to be committed to do something about it!

One Sisterhood – although it is One Sisterhood, the Sisterhood is broad and diverse. It involves women in our own backyard, but it also embraces women from far and wide. The Colour Sisterhood is a local Sisterhood and a global Sisterhood. Sometimes we can be enamoured with the global and foreign fields where there is great need, but in reality those fields are “someone’s local”. Every single one of us has a “local” to be responsible for … And this is a strong message on the conference. Yes, we have some strategic God given global partnerships, because together we can do more than we can individually… BUT we all have local communities full of local needs to pay attention to.

This Week I’m Wearing…

The summer is here! This week it’s all about my espadrilles. It’s still a little chilly so a long sleeve base jersey coupled with a bright over-sized top is my favourite mix with ray-ban’s and dark skinny jeans.
